The Teachers of the Visually Impaired provide direct instruction and support to all eligible Low Vision and Blind students in SCPS. That includes providing instruction in: Braille, use of Low Vision aids, Orientation & Mobility, use of large print materials, technology for VI/BL, and accommodative techniques for success in the regular classroom. We do provide Braille and Large Print materials, and low vision equipment in conjunction with the Virginia Department for the Blind and Visually Impaired. We also provide direct and consultative support to all classroom teachers and staff involved with one of our students.
